The Australian Government is inviting selected organisations to apply for funding under the Financial Wellbeing and Capability Activity – National Debt Helpline (NDH) through a closed non-competitive grant process.
Up to $27.4 million over 5 years will be available for grants from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2030. Grant funding is available in each state and territory, and will be based on previous funding allocations, aligned to demand.
The NDH is a national telephone service (1800 007 007) that provides access to financial counselling services to help people address their financial problems through the provision of information, advocacy and negotiation.
People can also access information at ndh.org.au and talk to a financial counsellor online through the NDH chat function on the website.
In addition to financial counselling services, the NDH also provides referrals to other supports that could include housing, mental health, addiction and family and domestic violence (FDV) supports.
The grant opportunity is expected to be open in coming weeks, for 4 weeks.
Priorities for the NDH include:
- To provide safe, inclusive, culturally appropriate and timely access to financial counselling services
- To provide people who access the NDH with a consistent, streamlined experience, including timely access to further financial counselling supports as needed, regardless of their location.
Further information will be included in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
