Building Future Battery Capabilities Program – Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre Training Stream
The Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre Training Stream will provide funding to Powering Australia Limited to design and deliver targeted training relating to battery:
- design
- manufacturing
- and handling.
Grant funding will also support Powering Australia Limited to facilitate access to specialised equipment for training purposes and to promote other career pathway initiatives that will help to build a robust and skilled Australian battery workforce. This funding will build on the objectives and activities of the Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre to support Australian businesses in developing and adopting renewable technologies, including batteries.
The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:
- deliver a pipeline of skilled workers for the battery sector to ensure Australia has the future clean energy workforce to help us transition to a net zero emissions economy
- support improved battery safety for Australians.
The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:
- assist in reducing skills shortages for key battery industry roles through the provision of nationally relevant training that is aligned to industry standards
- increase awareness of battery industry jobs and career pathways, including for workers in adjacent emissions-intensive industries that can be supported to transition into new roles
- increase the capability of the battery workforce to safely design, manufacture and handle batteries to reduce battery-related safety incidents.
Powering Australia Limited (ABN 32 663 088 686) has been identified as the appropriate recipient because:
- it is the entity contracted to establish the Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre
- it has the required technical expertise to undertake activities that align with intended objectives of the program
- the nature of the grant activity is specifically dependent on the expertise of Powering Australia Limited.
