Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program – Prostate Cancer Nurses program
The Grant Opportunity was approved by the Australian Government as part of the Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation program 2023-24 Budget and announced on 17 November 2023.
The Grant Opportunity will provide funding to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) to continue supporting the Prostate Cancer Nurses (PCN) service alongside the all-cancer nursing service led by the McGrath Foundation, ensuring both nursing services provide complementary and integrated care under the Program.

The eligible organisation was determined on the basis that the PCFA has extensive experience and proven track records of delivering high quality prostate cancer specialist nursing care and is highly regarded across the cancer sector. The Government has supported PCFA by funding the PCN Program since 2013. PCFA has a proven track record by consistently demonstrating:
- capability to deliver the project activities in the project locations.
- existing fit-for-purpose infrastructure and relationships to support the project activities.
- knowledge and capability to deliver all PCN program objectives and outcomes.
A non-competitive selection process was selected as the most suitable option to allocate Program funding on the basis that no other organisations have comparable skills, knowledge, expertise, existing networks and infrastructure that be leveraged to successfully deliver high quality Program outcomes within the required timeframes and funding.
