Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) Support and Prevention Program
The purpose of the CTE Support and Prevention Program grant opportunity is to provide funding for two key program elements:
Element 1: Pilot a program of support for people living with probable CTE and their families and carers
Element 1 will develop and pilot a national program of support specifically for people living with probable CTE and their families and carers. The program will establish a national network of support groups delivered by appropriately trained professionals and organisations. Support groups will involve regular meetings to provide broad neurological or neuropsychological advice, validation of concerns, social connection, and information about and connections to relevant services and supports. Groups will be established, at a minimum, in every capital city.
Element 2: Develop and deliver an evidence-based, integrated national public health awareness and education campaign to help protect the brains of school children
Element 2 will develop and deliver a multimodal, evidence-based, national public health campaign to raise awareness and educate school communities about the importance of good brain health and protecting children’s brains, including while participating in sport. Activities under this element will include formative research to inform development of a campaign strategy, consultation with key stakeholders, delivery of campaign activities against agreed metrics, and independent evaluation of campaign impacts.
