Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives
The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are:
- multicultural community-led grassroots organisations have increased capacity to engage in government grant funding processes and support a cohesive multicultural society
- increased tolerance and understanding of cultural diversity and reduced instances of discrimination and racism
- increased rates of social participation by multicultural community members
- increased rates of culturally diverse Australians expressing a sense of belonging.
Applicants can apply to deliver only one of the eligible activities below.
Each eligible activity has a separate application form – please select the correct form when applying.
If more than one application is submitted, the latest accepted application form will progress.
Funding applied for should be the same amount in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 financial years.
1. Multicultural Celebrations
- Events that showcase elements of cultural heritage to the broader community in order to increase understanding and awareness of racial, religious and cultural diversity
- minimum funding amount $10,000 ($5,000 in 2024-25, $5,000 in 2025-26)
- maximum funding amount $30,000 ($15,000 in 2024-25, $15,000 in 2025-26).
2. Multicultural Amenities
- Upgrades to amenities used by culturally and linguistically diverse communities to facilitate access and encourage increased participation by community members
- minimum funding amount $10,000 ($5,000 in 2024-25, $5,000 in 2025-26)
- maximum funding amount $100,000 ($50,000 in 2024-25, $50,000 in 2025-26).
3. Social and Intercultural Connections
- Programs that encourage the social participation of isolated community members and/ or facilitate interactions, collaborations among different cultural, ethnic, and social groups to foster interconnections and development of unified relationships
- minimum funding amount $10,000 ($5,000 in 2024-25, $5,000 in 2025-26)
- maximum funding amount $100,000 ($50,000 in 2024-25, $50,000 in 2025-26).
To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:
- Company
- Cooperative
- Incorporated Association
- Indigenous Corporation
- Statutory Entity.
If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust, the Trustee must be an eligible entity as listed above. You may be required to provide evidence of your entity type.

Approval of outcomes of selection process - December 2024
Notification to applicants - January 2025
Negotiations and award of grant agreements - March 2025
Earliest start date of grant activity - March 2025
End date of grant activity - 30 September 2026.
