Description:

Applications must address the objectives and desired outcomes described in section 1.3 of the grant guidelines.

Applications to this grant opportunity must propose research that addresses one of the four Streams of research.  An application may be submitted to one of the four Streams only.

The objective of this grant opportunity is addressed in the following four Streams:

Rare Cancers, Rare Diseases and Unmet Need

  • Stream 1 – conduct a clinical trial of one or more treatments and/or management-based interventions for rare cancers, rare diseases and/or unmet need.
  • Stream 2 – conduct an implementation science trial to determine the best strategies for reducing inappropriate antibiotic use in clinical settings.

Effective health interventions

  • Stream 3 – conduct a clinical trial that reduces inequities in health outcomes by addressing the specific health and health care needs that are of priority for people in regional, rural, and remote communities.
  • Stream 4 - conduct a clinical trial that assesses the comparative effectiveness of two or more health interventions to treat a specific clinical condition, to inform the decisions of policy makers, clinicians, and consumers regarding healthcare and to minimise the use of unnecessary, ineffective, and harmful health interventions.

This grant opportunity is being administered by NHMRC on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

Eligibility:

Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved MRFF Eligible Organisations. A list of NHMRC approved MRFF Eligible Organisations is available from the GrantConnect GO Documents and from the MRFF Eligible Organisations Institutions list on the NHMRC website.

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) CTA Initiative – 2022 Clinical Trials Activity Grant Opportunity guidelines.

Individual grant applications must not exceed a budget of $4m.

Streams 1 to 4 – up to 5 years

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$65,000,000.00

Estimated Grant Value (AUD):

From $0.00 to $4,000,000.00

Instructions for Application Submission:

Applicants are advised to read the Grant Guidelines thoroughly and liaise with the Eligible Organisation that will submit the application to identify any specific requirements that the Institution might have.

Applications must be submitted electronically using NHMRC’s online granting system (Sapphire).

Other Instructions:

Minimum Data closes at 5:00 pm (ACT Local Time) on 3 May 2023.

Questions should be submitted no later than 1:00 pm (ACT Local Time) on 21 June 2023.
