Description:

The Australian Government is providing funding of $4.0 million to the Black Dog Institute (BDI) in 2022-23 to deliver the National Mental Health Service for Emergency Service Workers and Volunteers (the National Mental Health Service).

The establishment of the National Mental Health Service will provide an online mental health assessment and triage service to a variety of evidence- based supports based on the type of symptoms being experienced by the service users and the level of symptom severity. This integrated and tailored approach will lessen the burden on emergency service workers to search for, navigate, and determine their eligibility for various forms of support and resources. The online assessment provides recommendations for a range of supports suitable to individual needs, empowering users to make informed decisions and access the highest quality supports.
