Green Metals Innovation Network
The Green Metals Innovation Network grant opportunity supports the Australian Government’s commitment to developing the green metals industry in Australia. The support of Australian green metals production is a priority under the Future Made in Australia National Interest Framework.
The establishment of a green metals network aims to enhance industry and research collaboration, create and maintain international links and pathways and develop the future green metals workforce.
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has been identified as the appropriate recipient because:
- it has strong relationships with key government, industry and research organisations (including with the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC)) across Australia via its Towards Net Zero and Hydrogen Mission programs
- it can build on the knowledge and expertise developed by the CSIRO led India-Australia Green Steel Partnership which is delivering a range of projects that aim to accelerate the decarbonisation of the iron-steel value chain in India and Australia
- it has a well-established record of delivering the same or similar activities
- it has the required technical expertise to undertake the activities.
