International Relations Grants Program (IRGP)
DFAT's International Relations Grants Program funds nine individual grants rounds administered by the
Australia–ASEAN Council (AAC)
Australia–China Council (ACC)
Australia–India Council (AIC)
Australia–Indonesia Institute (AII)
Australia–Japan Foundation (AJF)
Australia–Korea Foundation (AKF)
Council for Australian–Arab Relations (CAAR)
Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) and
the Australian Cultural Diplomacy Grants Program (ACDGP).
To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:
o an Australian entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN)
o an Australian consortium with a lead organisation2
o an Australian registered charity or not-for-profit organisation
o an Australian local government body
o an Australian State/Territory government body
o a corporate Commonwealth entity
o an Australian statutory authority
o an Australian or permanent resident of Australia
o a citizen or organisation from a specified partner country
o and be willing to provide or develop child protection guidelines for your project if it involves people under the age of 18 years.
Applications from consortia are acceptable, provided you have a lead applicant who is the main driver of the project and is eligible as per the list above.
Individuals who intend the grant to be administered by a university should apply on behalf of the university, i.e. your university is the applicant.
There is no restriction on how many applications per eligible applicant can submit.
Mostly delivery occurs within one year. Some grants are multiyear.

The International Relations Grants Program (IRGP) supports the Government's foreign policies and economic diplomacy interests and projects a positive contemporary image of Australia. IRGP grants support professional, community and institutional linkages between Australia and its partners on contemporary issues of shared interest including business, education, innovation, science, technology, the arts, media and sport. Grants generally range between $5000 and $40,000.
