The Australian Government is inviting Good Things Foundation Australia Limited via a restricted process to apply to deliver services under the Family and Communities Program – Volunteering and Community Connectedness Program Australia-wide from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2028.
Digital Literacy for Older Australians (publicly known as the Be Connected program) aims to improve the digital skills, confidence and online safety of people aged over 50, when using digital technology.
The Be Connected grant program comprises 2 elements, the Be Connected National Network Manager and the Be Connected Grants Funding Administrator. These elements are outlined below:
- A National Network Manager to maintain and support a network of local community organisations (referred to as network partners) to deliver in person, one-on-one and small group digital training and support to people aged over 50 to increase their confidence, skills and online safety when using digital technology
- A Grants Funding Administrator to administer funding assistance to eligible network partners to enable them to improve their capacity to provide digital training and support to older Australians.
The intended outcomes of the overarching Be Connected program are:
- to improve and diversify digital operational and strategic skills among older people (including creative, social and critical skills)
- to improve digital self-efficacy among older people (including confidence and trust)
