Description:

This grant program will provide a total of $1.5 million (GST exclusive) over two years (2022-23 to 2023-24) to Seafood Industry Australia to extend its Stay Afloat Program pilot and establish up to 50 hubs across Australia, with the intention of providing peer-led mental health and wellbeing support for commercial fishers, their families and local communities.

The national rollout of the Stay Afloat Program will:

  • Establish a Trusted Advocates service that assists community members to seek and access mental health care as needed.
  • Provide education and training and enhance communications that support help-seeking behaviours.
  • Establish and strengthen links between the mental health support co-ordinators, the community and appropriate services.
  • Build community capacity and resilience through the accountable and transparent distribution of a community resilience fund administered by Seafood Industry Australia.

The organisation eligible to apply for a grant is Seafood Industry Australia Limited, ABN 45 6190 813 64.

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$1,500,000.00
