Description:

The Australian Government is inviting applications via a targeted competitive process to apply to deliver Projects/Activities under the National Child and Family Investment Strategy – Innovation Fund in the following areas from 8 January 2025 to 5 February 2025:

SA2: ACT (All regions), NSW: Bourke – Brewarrina, Cobar, Kempsey, Nowra, NT: Sandover – Plenty, East Arnhem, Victoria River, Katherine, SA: APY Lands, Coober Pedy, Ceduna, Port Lincoln, VIC: Morwell, Meadow Heights, Campbellfield – Coolaroo, WA: Halls Creek, Kununurra, Mukinbudin, Exmouth, Derby-West Kimberley, Katanning, Kojonup.

LGA: ACT (All regions), NSW: Dubbo, Moree Plains, Goulburn Mulwaree, Blacktown, NT: Alice Springs, Roper Gulf, QLD: Moreton Bay, Mount Isa, Townsville, Palm Island, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Cairns, SA: Salisbury, Playford, Gawler, Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Pirie, TAS: Circular Head, Waratah-Wynyard, Burnie, Central Coast, Devonport, Kentish, WA: Narrogin, Port Hedland, Wyndham-East Kimberley.

$8.573 million (GST exclusive) will be provided over 3 years to support organisations within the child and family service system to apply the 7 principles and definitions developed as part of the forthcoming Investment Strategy. The grant will assist organisations to test and prepare for the phased transfer of resources and funding for child and family service delivery:

• to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs); and

• to focus on prevention and early supports for children and families.

Eligibility:

To be eligible you must be one of the following entity types:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)
  • Company
  • Cooperative
  • Incorporated Association
  • Corporate State or Territory Entity

If you are applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust , the Trustee must be one of the eligible entity type as listed above.

You must also be an organisation delivering one or more of the services listed in section 4.1 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines in at least one of the eligible priority locations.

Additional eligibility requirements

If a proposed activity involves interaction with children applicants must comply with the Australian Government's Child Safety obligations.

At a minimum applicants must, in delivering the proposed activity, be compliant with all relevant state, territory and Commonwealth law relating to employment or engagement of Child-Related Personnel. Where the activity involves planned interactions with children grantees must also apply the National Principles for Child Safe Organisatons, undertake an annual risk assessment of child safety and provide child safe training and education of staff.

Grant Activity Timeframe:

Assessment of applications - Within 4 weeks from the closing date

Approval of outcomes of selection process - Within 6 weeks from the closing date

Notification to applicants - Within 7 weeks from the closing date

Negotiations and award of grant agreements - Within 13 weeks from the closing date

Earliest start date of grant activity - May 2025

End date of grant activity - The end date will vary depending on the requirement of each project, but the maximum duration of the grant opportunity is 3 years.
