Current Grant Opportunity View - GO7385
Five 4WD Buses for Remote Sports
The Australian Government is committed to increasing opportunities for participation in sport and promoting inclusive environments where all Australians feel welcome. The Government is proud to assist organisations to address identified barriers to accessing sport and physical activity.
This investment in sport will encourage more Australians to get involved in sport and physical activity, bring communities together, boost the economy and support our elite athletes to pursue sporting success on the global stage.
The objectives of the grant opportunity are to:
- enhance community engagement by developing and implementing initiatives that encourage active participation in sport and physical activities
- facilitate active involvement and support in various sporting events at local, regional, and national levels, and
- encourage collaboration and coordination among stakeholders to address sport-related challenges and promote effective sports culture.
The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are to:
- improve opportunities for community participation in sport and physical activity
- increase involvement in sporting events, and
- break down barriers through effective coordination and cooperation on sport issues.

We cannot consider your application if you do not satisfy all the eligibility criteria.
We cannot provide a grant if you receive funding from another government source for the same purpose.
Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
To be eligible, you must be one of the organisation/s listed below and have received an invitation to apply from the department.
- West Arnhem Regional Council
- East Arnhem Regional Council
- West Daly Regional Council
The eligible applicants and identified regions were determined by the Government in response to barriers faced by community members when attempting to safely and reliably access sport and recreation opportunities.
Many opportunities are not provided in remote communities and community members often don’t have their own mode of transport. This means they miss out on participating in sport and recreation activities, especially during times of wet weather when roads can become unsafe for standard vehicles. These grants will help remove this barrier and enable increased participation in regional and remote events.
Who is not eligible to apply for a grant?
You are not eligible to apply for this grant opportunity if you:
- have not received an invitation to apply from the department
- are not listed as an eligible organisation in section 4.1, and/or
- are an organisation, or your project partner is an organisation, included on the National Redress Scheme’s website on the list of ‘Institutions that have not joined or signified their intent to join the Scheme’.
Potential grantees are advised that an election for the House of Representatives may be called before this grant process has been concluded. If an election is called and the House of Representatives is dissolved, then caretaker arrangements will apply to the business of Government. By convention, decisions are not taken during this period that would bind an incoming Government and limit its freedom of action. Consequently, potential grantees need to be aware that any grant processes which have not been concluded before the caretaker period, or which commence during the caretaker period, may experience delays in finalisation and could potentially be revised or cancelled.
