A TCR is a one-time solicitation for grant applications to address a specific health issue. A TCR specifies the scope and objectives of the research to be proposed, application requirements and procedures, and the review criteria to be applied in the evaluation of applications submitted in response to the TCR.
The objectives of the Targeted Call for Research: Improving health of people with intellectual disability (IHPID) are to:
- understand individual and system factors that influence access to and delivery of primary healthcare for people with intellectual disability
- understand the social and economic benefits of enhanced preventive screening
- identify best practice models of care to improve access to and uptake of lifestyle interventions for people with intellectual disability
- build an evidence base to support the implementation of effective strategies for healthcare professionals to deliver effective and equitable care for people with intellectual disability.
The intended outcome of the IHPID TCR is the improvement of long-term health outcomes and quality of life of people with an intellectual disability. This will reduce the number of avoidable presentations to emergency departments and the number of preventable and prolonged hospitalisations. Involvement of people with intellectual disability, their families and carers in the design of the research and its implementation is a key factor for achieving success.
Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. A list of NHMRC approved Administering Institutions is available at:
