Description:

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to fund a national provider for a three-year period from 2025-26 to 2027-28 to continue the delivery of Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Services (DBMAS), Severe Behaviour Response Team (SBRT) and Needs Based Assessment (NBA) services. They form the Government’s three-tiered approach to support carers and the health and aged care sector in managing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) that affect a person’s care or quality of life, through nationally consistent dementia behaviour assessment and support services:

• Tier 1: DBMAS provides specialist clinical support and advice to service providers and carers of a person with BPSD, regardless of their setting (including community, health and aged care). It typically assists individuals with mild to moderate dementia, who require short-term engagement.

• Tier 2: SBRT provides support to residential aged care services who require assistance caring for those with severe and very severe BPSD, with more intensive support over longer periods of time.

• Tier 3: Through the NBA service, the SBRT also manages national referrals and eligibility assessments for the Specialist Dementia Care Program that provides transitional residential care for people with very severe BPSD.

Grant Activity Timeframe:

Potential grantees are advised that an election for the House of Representatives may be called before this grant process has been concluded. If an election is called and the House of Representatives is dissolved, then caretaker arrangements will apply to the business of Government. By convention, decisions are not taken during this period that would bind an incoming Government and limit its freedom of action. Consequently, potential grantees need to be aware that any grant processes which have not been concluded before the caretaker period, or which commence during the caretaker period, may experience delays in finalisation and could potentially be revised or cancelled.

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$159,295,000.00
