Background
NHMRC e-ASIA JRP scheme will support Australian participation and collaboration in leading international collaborative research through the e-ASIA Joint Research Program (e-ASIA JRP). The Joint Research Program formulates and supports international joint research projects in the East Asia region.
The e-ASIA JRP selects research projects through an open call for proposals. Fields of cooperation are decided among the e-ASIA participating member organisations and funding is for up to three years.
Eligible Topics
NHMRC is supporting Australian researchers for the following research topics in the e-ASIA JRP health research 8th joint call:
- Infectious Diseases
- Antimicrobial and multi-drug resistance
- Cancer

Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. A list of NHMRC approved Administering Institutions and NHMRC’s Administering Institution policy are available on NHMRC’s website.

Applications must satisfy all the requirements set out in the NHMRC e-ASIA Joint Research Program Grants 2019 Guidelines.
Applications will be excluded from consideration if the following eligibility requirements are not met:
- There must be a minimum of three member organisations participating in a call topic.
- Applications specific to each participating member organisation must be completed by the Chief Investigator A (CIA) in their country (e.g. Australian CIA submit to NHMRC while the Japanese CIA submit to Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development).

Applications must also be approved through the e-ASIA JRP process to be eligible for funding from NHMRC.
Applications must be submitted electronically using NHMRC’s online Research Grants Management System (RGMS) unless otherwise advised by NHMRC.
A complete NHMRC e-ASIA JRP Scheme application must consist of the following:
- Completion of Parts A and B of the application form;
- The relevant information in the applicants RGMS Profile;
- The uploaded PDF document containing your Research Proposal; and
- A PDF copy of the e-ASIA common application form. The Lead Principal Investigator of the collaborative project is required to submit a common application form to the e-ASIA Program Secretariat.

Minimum data must be entered into NHMRC’s granting system by 17:00 AEDT on 3 April 2019.
Value of individual grants will be pro rata based on the number of successful applications.
