Description:

The purpose of this grant is to support the continuation of the John Flynn Placement Program (JFPP) for an additional 18 months to 31 December 2021. The JFPP is designed to enable medical students to form long-term relationships with rural communities and gain a better understanding of rural medical practice and non-metropolitan health services.

Each year, 300 medical students are selected to join the program and normally undertake a placement in the same regional, rural or remote community for a minimum of two weeks per year over a four-year period. Up to 1200 placements are supported annually.

Eligibility:

As this grant opportunity is a Ad Hoc/One-Off grant opportunity only Health Workforce Queensland, ABN 40 605 675 410, is eligible to apply.

Grant Activity Timeframe:

The organisation eligible to apply for this grant is Health Workforce Queensland (HWQ, ABN 40 605 675 410), on behalf of a consortium of jurisdictional Rural Workforce Agencies (RWAs).
HWQ, on behalf of the RWA consortium, is eligible for this grant opportunity as it has been assessed to have:
• capability to deliver the program activities nationally;
• existing infrastructure and relationships to support the program activities; and
• knowledge of and capability to deliver the program objectives and outcomes.

Total Amount Available (AUD):

$5,849,000.00
