Raising Healthy Minds
The Raising Children Network (RCN) provides information on a range of health, learning, development and behavioural issues through its digital platform, targeting families of children aged 0-18 years old and practitioners working with families and parents, with an emphasis on early intervention and prevention.
As part of the 2019-20 Budget, funding of $1.5 million over three years from 2019-20 was announced for RCN to design, develop and deliver a new mobile app providing mental health literacy information and messages to parents and carers of children aged 0-12 years under the Supporting Parent Mental Health Literacy Program (the program).
RCN launched the Raising Healthy Minds app (the RHM app) on 28 September 2021.
The RHM app aims to improve parents’ child mental health literacy by delivering proactive, evidence-based, bite-sized information and push notifications. It supports parents, carers and professionals by increasing their understanding of children’s emotions, behaviours, and overall social and emotional wellbeing. The RHM app also provides evidence-based information on parents’ self-care and family wellbeing.
An additional two years of funding was announced as part of the 2022-23 Budget, which will allow RCN to maintain and enhance the app and extend reach to First Nations and cultural and linguistically communities.
