Description:

This grant opportunity enables the organisation to submit a proposal for the delivery of the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet. 

The purpose of this grant opportunity is to continue the administration of the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet and focus area activities. The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet makes available information and resources to support the delivery of, and access to, high quality, culturally appropriate health care and services to First Nations people. The HealthInfoNet is a research centre housed within Edith Cowan University. Some work and operational/administrative funding is provided by the Edith Cowan University; with other funding provided for specified components of the HealthInfoNet by the department and other funding partners. 

The General Objective of the grant opportunity is to inform practice and support the delivery of high quality, culturally appropriate health care and services to First Nations people through the maintenance and provision of the HealthInfoNet website and associated resources. 

Operational core funding is provided to update and maintain the HealthInfoNet, an online facility that makes information on First Nations health easily accessible. 

Topic specific funding is provided to allow enhancements and focus on identified areas (Alcohol and other drugs; and environmental health) which may otherwise be absent from or diminished in the HealthInfoNet

Eligibility:

Edith Cowan University is eligible to apply for this grant. 

Rationale for Invitation: 

The eligible organisation is invited to apply for this grant opportunity as they have been assessed to have: 

  • capability to deliver the grant activities;
  • existing infrastructure and relationships to support the grant activities;
  • experience and capability to deliver to the grant objectives and outcomes; and
  • demonstrated value for money in delivering outcomes in the current market. 

Edith Cowan University has proven capability of delivering the largest and most comprehensive collection of resources related to First Nations health. The web-based resource offers a free, “one-stop shop” for up-to-date information about many aspects of First Nations health. These resources support medical professionals, practitioners and other professionals to deliver culturally appropriate and effective health care. 

Edith Cowan University has previously received funding from the Australian Government to deliver the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet. Edith Cowan University conducted the work outlined in the previous agreement effectively and successfully and has demonstrated that the administrative and financial structures in place, will allow them to deliver the activities from this grant in an efficient manner.
