Inspiring Australia – Science Engagement: National Science Week Interactive Science Engagement Project - ABC
Support the development and delivery of interactive citizen science engagement activities by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) from 2025 to 2027.
The objective of the grant is to deliver funds to support development and delivery of national, interactive citizen science engagement activities as part of National Science Week for three consecutive years.
The intended outcomes of the grant are:
- improved public perception, recognition, and engagement in STEM
- increased awareness and participation in science engagement and interactive science projects by a broader diversity of cohorts underrepresented in science, including:
- First Nations peoples
- culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people
- women and girls and gender diverse people
- LGBTQIA+ people
- people living in regional and remote areas
- people living with disabilities
- people with low socio-economic backgrounds
- neurodivergent people
- people facing age-based discrimination
- development and delivery of citizen science engagement activities nationally in each of the three consecutive years.
The grant funding will support the ABC to create and develop national interactive science projects as a part of National Science Week each year for the duration of the grant. These projects will provide the opportunity for anyone in Australia to engage in National Science Week activities, as long as they have access to a viable internet connection.
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), ABN: 52 429 278 345 has been identified as the appropriate recipient because:
- the ABC’s well-established record of delivering the same or similar activities
- it has the required technical expertise to undertake the activities
- the nature of the grant activity is specifically dependent on the network, reputation and experience of the ABC.
