Grant Activity:
Environment and host interactions: impact on the burden of gastrointestinal infections
Purpose:
Exposure to contaminated environments in areas with poor water and sanitation management often leads to poor gastrointestinal health. This impacts on child health in slum settings, and on internationally mobile populations visiting areas with inadequate sanitation. Via funded collaborative projects, I will perform research among these 2 population groups, together providing better understanding of how environmental exposures impact on the function of the intestine and disrupt human health.
