The purpose of the Grant is to provide funding to support Taronga Zoo and its hospitals (Taronga Wildlife Hospital and Taronga Western Plains Wildlife Hospital), to rescue, treat and rehabilitate wildlife impacted by bushfires and return them into suitable natural environments or otherwise take care of them. The grant may also contribute to: building organisational capacity and preparedness to respond to future emergencies; support actions to preserve at-risk populations of threatened species impacted by destruction of their habitat through bushfire; development of a mobile app to support provision of supplementary resources to wildlife in situ; construction of facilities to support a breeding program for the Regent Honey Eater, and establishing a security population of the Northern Corroboree Frog.
