Grant Activity:
Understanding social determinants of mental health for young people from refugee backgrounds to improve mental health
Purpose:
Young people from refugee backgrounds are at higher risk of poor mental health. This collaborative project seeks to investigate the social factors contributing to this for young refugees (aged 12-25). Drawing on existing data, interviews and consultation with young people and their families, community/religious leaders and mental health practitioners, we will develop a tool for use with young refugees to identify these social factors and provide recommendations for improving mental health.
