Grant Activity:
Optimising treatments in mental health using AI
Purpose:
Mental health disorders are prevalent, affect people in every workplace, and cause great distress to students and their parents. A major problem is that most treatments in mental health are only partially effective. It is not known which interventions, or which components of therapies, provide the vital active ingredients, and why they work for some but not for others. Artificial intelligence will be used to uncover which treatments for stress, anxiety and depression work quickly, and for whom. If artificial intelligence can advance a solution towards shortening the prolonged period where people are provided with non-optimal treatment for their condition, the social, personal and economic costs would be enormous.
