Grant Activity:
Whitsunday Regional VHF Radio Disaster Communications Project
Purpose:
Whitsunday Regional Council (WRC) has been significantly impacted by disaster events over the past five years and are driven to improve the resilience of communication systems to enable better preparation, response and recovery. The Whitsundays is reliant on VHF radio communications in a disaster event, with other communications highly susceptible to power and connection outages. To improve disaster communications for Council, SES, Police and the QFES across mobile black spots, this project will replace the aged and increasingly unreliable analogue network currently in place with an innovative new digital radio system
