Grant Activity:
Test often, treat early: Are major changes in policy and practice needed to eliminate hepatitis C among people with HIV?
Purpose:
Hepatitis C treatment is highly effective, preventing liver-related morbidity and mortality for individuals, as well as onward transmission of hepatitis. However, current limitations on the number of tests per year and restrictions on treatment until chronic hepatitis C infection has been confirmed, mean that treatment is usually delayed for over a year after diagnosis. This proposal aims to estimate potential benefits from allowing more frequent testing and earlier treatment.
