Purpose:
The Hotham Village is based at the very top of the mountain with water supply pumped into the resort from catchments in the valley. If that supply is restricted or interrupted, the resorts ability to provide water to the village is limited to the capacity of its on-mountain reserves. Within this context, the RMB is looking to increase Hothams water storage capacity through the implementation of a new 2.8 mega litre tank that will double current volumes at the Mt Higginbotham site. This will significantly increase the resorts firefighting capacity in summer when natural water flows are low, and enable increased snowmaking and resort growth in winter in support of visitor economy uplift.
