ENDO3: A Phase III Randomised Controlled Clinical Trial Comparing Disease-Free Survival of Patients with or without Lymph Node Dissection in clinical stage I Endometrial Cancer (ANZGOG trial #1911/2020)
Purpose:
The current treatment for stage I endometrial cancer is surgery– a hysterectomy and a lymph node dissection performed under the one anaesthetic. The benefit for a lymph node dissection has never been established in a randomised trial and patients are concerned this surgery may cause ‘more harm than good’. Our proposed ENDO3 clinical trial will directly address patient concerns regarding this practice and establish the benefits or harms of this surgery to reduce the potential for overtreatment.
