Kirbys Road Environmental Reserve, is an identified Koala Priority Area & Core Koala Habitat according to the South East Qld Koala Conservation Strategy 2020-2025. Key project activities are:
Habitat restoration
Species monitoring
Evaluation
Community education.
The outcomes for this project include:
Monitoring koala populations and their resilience
Monitoring pest species
Protecting and restoring the natural habitat (weed control and natural regeneration)
Community engagement and education
Engaging surrounding landholders and community members to report koala sightings through our KoalaWatch Citizen Science program.
Benefits include improved biodiversity, increased koala populations and greater community engagement.
