Grant Activity:
Careers in everyday industries: Potential benefits of increased visibility
Purpose:
The Careers in everyday industries: Potential benefits of increased visibility project will examine career paths in retail, hospitality, and allied industries, and attitudes towards them. These industries employ 20% of the workforce, operating throughout Australia, yet the industries suffer from low prestige, affecting their choice as careers and the future prospects of workers in the industries. The proposed project aims to examine and make visible the careers that are available, the reasons for the low image of these industries, and aims to research awareness about careers in the industries among young people, adults, and those who advise them. The proposed project aims to improve the visibility of available careers and thereby help those looking for work, assist careers influencers, and bring associated societal and economic benefits.
