Grant Activity:
Improving cardiopulmonary resuscitation of infants in the delivery room.
Purpose:
Perinatal asphyxia causes severe oxygen deficit (hypoxia) to the fetus/newborn before or during birth. Perinatal asphyxia causes an estimated 1 million deaths worldwide annually, with most deaths occurring within the first hours of life. Those that survive have a high risk of brain injury. This application aims to reduce the devastating consequences of asphyxia by improving the way infants are cared for in the delivery room.
