Description:

A Targeted Call for Research (TCR) is a one-time request for grant applications designed to stimulate research in a particular area that will benefit the health of Australians or address a specific health issue.

NHMRC is considering opening a grant opportunity in the second half of 2022 to invite research proposals that specifically focus on assisting people experiencing loneliness and/or social isolation to manage their chronic disease.

The intended outcome of the TCR: Loneliness, social isolation and chronic diseases 2022 is to inform the development of evidence-based policies and programs, within and outside the health sector (e.g., education, housing and urban planning, local government and social welfare), for people with chronic disease who are lonely and/or socially isolated.
