National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program - Expansion Round
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program is a component of the Australian Government’s Residential and Flexible Care Program.
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program funds organisations to provide flexible, culturally appropriate aged care to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people close to their home and/or community.
The program is part of the Australian Government’s strategy to improve the quality of, and access to aged care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Purpose
This Funding opportunity provides for Expansion Funding of up to $2.5 million (GST exclusive). This funding includes up to $500,000, to change existing low care places to high care places where there is a demonstrated need in the community. Funding is to commence in 2017-18 and will be provided in accordance with the NATSIFACP Guidelines.
Objectives
The objectives are to:
• deliver a range of services to meet the changing aged care needs of the community;
• provide aged care services to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people close to home and community;
• improve access to aged care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
• improve the quality of culturally appropriate aged care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; and
• develop financially viable cost-effective and co-ordinated services outside of the existing mainstream programs.
The Department is only accepting applications from the following organisations:
• existing NATSIFACP service provider’s delivering residential aged care services under the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program ; or
• approved providers currently delivering Commonwealth funded residential aged care services (administered under the Aged Care Act 1997) to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a geographical location defined as MMM 6-7 (remote and very remote) with an allocation of 20 or less residential aged care places.
