Grant Activity:
Understanding and Ameliorating Age- and Dementia-Related Decline in Prospection
Purpose:
Memory for past events deteriorates in both dementia and healthy aging. Mounting research reveals that the ability to imagine, plan, and prepare for the future – “prospection” – also declines, with potentially severe implications for functional everyday activities. This research will uncover the changes that lead to prospection decline, link this decline to everyday impairment, and develop a new intervention to improve prospection abilities, quality of life, and wellbeing in aging and dementia.
